Shania Twain

Her birth name is Eileen Edwards. She took the name Shania when she was 25.

She was adopted by her stepfather, an Ojibway Indian, when she was 6. "Shania" means "I'm on my way" in his language.

Her parents were killed in a car accident when she was young. She raised her siblings.

She grew up in the rural town for Timmins in Northern Ontario, Canada. (thanks, Heidi - Niagara Falls, Canada)

She's married to record producer Mutt Lange, who has worked with many big acts, including AC/DC, The Cars, and Def Leppard. They live in a castle in Switzerland.

She crossed over to mainstream Pop in the 1990s. Her 1997 album Come On Over is the biggest selling Country album and the best selling solo-female of all time, selling over 36 million copies.

In 2005, Shania bought a high-country ranch in Wanaka, New Zealand. The property has spectacular mountain and lake views and isn't too far away from the tourist resort of Queenstown.

On May 15, 2008, a spokesperson for Mercury Nashville announced that Twain and Lange were separating after Lange had an affair with Twain's best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud.[44][45] Their divorce was finalized on June 9, 2010.[46] On December 20, 2010, Twain's manager confirmed that Twain was engaged to Swiss business executive Frederic Thiebaud, the ex-husband of Marie-Anne Thiebaud.[47][48] They married on January 1, 2011 in Rincón, Puerto Rico

Her 1998 Come On Over Tour was on of the best concerts that I have ever attended. She really knows who got her where she is today: her fans, and shows it at her concerts.
