Eminem on Alternative?

11-03-2010 (6:53 pm) No offense, but I would not consider Eminem's music alternative--he is a rapper. Personally, I would get upset if his music was to play while I was listening to the alternative station. |

Beastie Boys I think is the only exception as some of their music has some rock sound to them. |

Ugh...I can't stand Gnarls Barkley. I agree with Beastie Boys being the exception. The hip hop radio stations have never played their music and that is why they were embraced by the rock community. I miss the rock alternative from the 90's...bands who are no where to be found now but made some great music back then. |

Nirvana, Beastie Boys, etc. If you will define what would be played or not on the Alternative channel, 80% of what is playing nowadays would not play, because it is not even similar to what is Alternative in its essency. The Alternative era were among final 80's and middle 90's. For example: Nirvana and Pearl Jam are always playing on Alternative channel but they aren't Alternative, they are pure Grunge (a style that have nothing of Alternative). |

There's some other stuff that I would think is more for a hit station that plays on Alt. Anyways, I still vote eminem in on alt! :) |

I agree with your statement, especially if you are wanting to place the music into a specific genre. However, when alternative radio stations first surfaced on the airwaves music from Pearl Jam and Nirvana were what was being played. Therefore, for many, this is the music that is considered "alternative". I am still anti-Eminem on the alternative station! If I'm listenting to .977 alternative station and one of his songs were to come on...I would more than likely stop listening to the station all together. I know he has fans out there but there is just no possible way I would ever consider his music alternative. I do not think that the majority of his loyal fans would consider him "alternative". |

If you really wanna listen to Eminem, you should ask them to play Eminem on the Mix channel. As the name says, Mix channel is for everything (almost). |
