Rihanna Stars Tattoo Rihanna comes to the Defense of Man Down’s Gory Visuals The Rihanna-related events of the week included the release of her new ‘Man Down’ video, which was quickly followed by the disapproval of its violent content by several entertainment watchdog groups such as the Parents TV Council and Industry Ears. And now the expected rebuttal from the Barbadian has arrived, with the singer taking to her twitter account to defend her latest video from critics.

In a detailed tweet, Rihanna wrote, “I’m a 23 year old rock star with NO KIDS! What’s up with everybody wantin’ me to be a parent? I’m just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!. Cuz we all know how difficult/embarrassing it is to communicate touchy subject matters to anyone especially our parents! And this is why! … Cuz we turn the other cheek! U can’t hide your kids from society, or they’ll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD! … The music industry isn’t exactly Parents R Us! We have the freedom to make art, LET US! It’s your job to make sure they don’t turn out like US.”

Rihanna’s recently-released ‘Man Down’ music video, in which she is depicted as a rape victim who finds her rapist and murders him in front of everyone, is the subject of some major criticism from the Parents Television Council (PTC).

The video has been condemned by the PTC, which claims that the violence-filled clip shows RiRi in an “implied rape scene with a man whom she later guns down in an act of premeditated murder.”
