The most awarded female artist of all time, Whitney Houston, passed away Saturday, February 11th, 2012.

whitney houston Queen of Pop, Whitney Houston, dies at 48“She was underwater and apparently unconscious,” the Beverly Hills Police Department said in their initial statement. As the investigation continued, it became clear that Whitney did not die from drowning but instead from an  overdose of Xanax and other prescription medications mixed with alcohol. Coroner officials indicated that the water in her lungs was not substantial enough to conclude that she drowned. boeing logo Boeing backed Music Website to Highlight All Local Music Events in ChicagoBoeing has contributed $150,000 towards the creation of an interactive website to comprehensively promote local Music events and venues in Chicago.

Initially focused on Jazz music with a game plan in the works to expand and cover other genres, a new website collaboration project with Boeing and local music locations in Chicago plan to provide visitors a comprehensive website to help visitors find out who’s playing, where and when.

“There’s a need for an aggregator,” says Tracie Hall, Chicago Community Investor at Boeing. “A place that not only shows what’s playing where, but that brings the music community together – owners and operators and audiences, (where people can) look at the information, talk together, build this online community. Music Powered Medical Devices Rap Music Powers New Medical DevicesResearchers at Purdue University have developed a new type of implantable pressure sensor, which is powered by acoustic vibrations such as those that come from music,and particularly rap music, due to it’s heavy driving bass beats.

In hopes of treating people affected by aneurisms, incontinence due to paralysis, researchers at the Purdue University have developed a new medical sensor in the form of a vibrating cantilever which is activated by frequencies in the range of 200-500 hertz. Frequencies in this range cause the cantilever to vibrate, creating energy which is then stored in a capacitor for later use.
