Sir. Paul McCartney is working on a track for a video game, suggesting that video games are a great way to reach out to young people with music.
Paul McCartney, is putting a new twist into his latest work. Instead of new composing music for a album or film, one of his most recent pieces will be composed for a computer video game, which is currently unnamed.
Paul explained to German magazine Die Zelt, “I was asked whether I could imagine doing something like this, and I found it exciting. Besides, it is a fascinating market. These days a new computer game sells much better than a CD. And you reach an entirely different target group. This way many young people will probably listen to my music for the first time while playing a videogame.”
And although Paul is ready to embrace this new medium, he is still somewhat of a traditionalist when it comes to composing music, like ‘Valentine’, one of two tracks included on his latest album ‘Kisses from the Bottom’.
“I wrote it during my holiday.” Paul explained, “To be more precise, in the hotel’s lobby. There was an abandoned piano in the lounge, it was an afternoon after lunch, all the guests were away, the staff were cleaning.” He just “sat down in front of the piano and started playing randomly” but within an hour and a half the melody and most of the text was ready.
Paul McCartney’s new album ‘Kisses On The Bottom‘, will be released February, 6th/7th 2012.
