Looks like The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (also known as Coachella or the Coachella Festival) is going big this year. If the usual multi-day event wasn’t enough for fans, Coachella 2012 will span two weekends (13-15) and (20-22) with a myriad of musicians (120+) scheduled to play at the event. Coachella Festival passes go on sale this Friday, January 13th at 10am PST and cost $285 each.
The Coachella festival, originally started in 1999, is traditionally held during the third or fourth weekend at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Claifornia. Since Indio is located in the California Desert, concertgoers will get hit with temperatures rising above 100°F during the day, which then drop dramatically once the sun sets.
And while some might say “if you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen”, the lineup this year may be enough to motivate those who prefer the cool comfort or convenience of listening at home via streaming internet radio to venture outside to hear the music live. Especially since the lineup is looking pretty good this year (although naturally that could be debatable based on your personal taste in music).
On Friday, top musicians include The Black Keys, as well as Refused, Arctic Monkeys, Explosions in the Sky, are playing with more than 40 other bands.
If that weren’t enough, the next day headliner Radiohead, in addition to Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Feist and many more will be heating up the show on Saturday.
On Sunday rap legends Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are headlining; and with At the Drive In, Florence + the Machine, The Tantrums, and DJ Shadow leading up, you can be sure the weekend will end on a good note.
