Nicki Minaj is not just the most elite female MC out there in the music industry at the moment. Today she made an announcement, which proved that along with possessing huge amounts of fame and fortune, she also owns a great big heart.
Minaj is now the face of Casio’s innovative cameras and she has also donated her autographed Casio TRYX camera to a charity, which will auction it, with all the proceeds going to the Japanese earthquake relief fund.
Just after finishing her Casio’s ‘TRYX OUT: NYC 2011’ performance at NYC’s Best Buy Theater, the rap girl- who is currently on tour with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Blink drummer Travis Barker, sat down with MTV News to explain how she became a part of Casio’s charity idea and what is so cool about the TRYX camera she is donating to the charity.
Minaj said that she was contacted by Casio, who told her that they are about to launch this new line of state-of-the-art cameras, and asked her if she wanted to be a part of the whole launch process. That was enough to get the Jamaican excited, and she quickly got on board. She then decided to do a bit of research about the product so that she could learn how to use it. Minaj further added that she is not very tech savvy but the look and custom designed color of Casio TRYS was so amazing that she had no choice but to say yes to them.
Later on in the interview, Minaj revealed that she has been given her own Casio TRYX too, which although she loves, is giving it to charity auctions in order to raise money for the benefit of millions of Japanese who are still suffering from the devastation and the after effects caused by the March 11’s earthquake-induced tsunami.
She showed her shocking pink camera to the interviewer and divulged that it isn’t available in the stores yet and it might not be released in this color at all. But she will do her best to convince the Casio people to release it as according to her, the Barbs and Ken Barbs would love to get their hands on this new bright colored gadget.
Minaj added that donating her beloved camera, which she has signed herself, would be her way to give back to the society and her Japanese fans, who need the full love and support of the international community.
After finishing up her tour with Weezy and group, Minaj plans to open talks with Britney Spears’ managers, so that both the rap and pop divas could go on a tour together. This would come in handy for Britney, whose plans were dealt a major blow recently, when Enrique Iglesias pulled out of the tour citing high tour costs.
